USA Special Event Description:
Helping those young musicians who could very well become the great artists of tomorrow is the mission of this music festival. This is one of the few fests whose guiding purpose is to provide performance opportunities for outstanding up-and-coming talents. Largely because of this, Bar Harbor is said to be one of the nation's proving grounds for gifted young artists.
With a diverse program including solo recitals, chamber music, pops, jazz, string orchestral works and new compositions, the festival highlights up to 40 individuals and ensembles. Concerts may attract an intimate crowd of 100 or a bustling cluster of 1,000, depending on the venue.
The concert performances, which take place in an acoustically excellent church, a shore-front family estate, an historic golf club and an outdoor amphitheater set in spectacular Acadia National Park, are complimented by workshops, pre-concert lectures, food and arts and crafts. With plenty of hiking, biking, sailing, swimming, fishing, golf and tennis, Bar Harbor is a recreational paradise.
