USA Special Event Description:
The 29th Carnaval San Francisco is a celebration of music, dance and artistry with an emphasis on showcasing the Latin & Caribbean American culture. With annual attendance of over 400,000, this two-day outdoor Street Festival and Grand Parade is the largest multi-cultural celebration on the West Coast.
Thirteen city blocks in San Franciscos Mission District will be bursting with music, dance and exotic food from the many countries that celebrate Carnaval. The Grand Parade, a dazzling display of cultures is televised in both English (KRON) and Spanish (Telemundo). The 2007 theme is LOVE HAPPENS reflecting the fact that Carnaval San Francisco draws upon a broad cultural pageantry that fosters a spirit of universal inclusiveness and reaffirms cultural artistic values. This synergy of harmony and revelry draws support from individuals, municipal government, foundations and corporate sponsors.
Carnaval San Francisco is a program of the Mission Neighborhood Centers, (MNC), which has 40 years, of experience in providing high quality social service programs to San Franciscos Hispanic community.
