USA Special Event Description:
The eleventh annual Racing for Children Grand Prix benefiting Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Greater Houston/ Galveston, Inc. (RMHC) is scheduled for the weekend of September 15 & 16, 2007 at the Reliant Park!
As the organizers of this one-of-a-kind racing and family event, the Racing for Children Grand Prix is truly excited to offer Houstonians the opportunity to be a part of a great family event. Adults and children of all ages are invited to this FREE event targeted to the entire family.
The event is focused around a unique charity-racing program where amateur drivers race a unique Formula M Race Car. The cars are a 1/3 scale replica of an open wheel racer, but have been specially designed for charity street racing. Its a fun and competitive event, where businesses are in pursuit of the coveted checkered flag and the first place trophy is passed on from year to year. Best of all, race car fans can cheer on their favorite teams and support one of the nations top childrens charities…Ronald McDonald House Charities!
The race will be officiated by USA Charity Racing, Americas only sanctioned racing organization dedicated to supporting charity style-race car events.
The Racing for Children Grand Prix is also planning a Racers Village with various vendors and activities. Ronald McDonald will be stopping by to meet racing fans; kids of all ages can also take a picture in front of the famous Ronald Shoe car; there will be a children's area filled with games, inflatables, and art projects. Its 2 days of fun family entertainment!
The Racing for Children Grand Prix supports Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Greater Houston/Galveston, dedicated to improving the health and well being of children in Houston and Galveston. RMHC does this by creating, finding or supporting various local programs, including:
The Ronald McDonald Caremobile: a two-room mobile unit that provides quality healthcare to the medically under-served in our communities.
Scholarships: In partnership with the local McDonalds Owner/ Operators, RMHC utilizes a portion of all French fry sales and matching RMHC funds, to award over 80 scholarships to deserving, graduating seniors in our communities.
Grants: RMHC of Greater Houston/ Galveston, Inc. funds grants to other not-for-profit organizations whose programs directly benefit our local children in the areas
Ronald McDonald Houses: Each year, thousands of children travel to Houston and Galveston to be treated for serous illness or injury. Ronald McDonald Houses provide a place where the whole family may stay in a home-like environment. Both the Houston and Galveston Ronald McDonald Houses receive substantial support from RMHC of Greater Houston/ Galveston.
