And you thought apples were only for keeping the doctor away! This scrumptious fall festival takes the shiny fruit to a whole new level by honoring it with five days of family fun and entertainment!
Some of the many activities that can be found at this event are a grand parade, fiddle and banjo contest, car show and poker run, rides and arts and crafts. Since it is the longest, continuously running festival in Southern Illinois, the parade is the largest in the region! And yes, apples are the talk of the town with their very own "Appl-y-mpics" and apple pie and butter contest plus many more ways to enjoy apples than just in grandma's homemade pie!
Whether you like them picked right from the tree or baked into a variety of apple specialties, let Murphysboro show you a thing or two about them apples!
