USA Special Event Description:
This ethnic festival celebrates the Czechoslovakian heritage of the pioneers who settled in the Tabor area of South Dakota. The events feature traditional Czech music, dancing and costumes, including one dance performed by 130 people. Other attractions include parades, polka music and a wide variety of delicious Czech food.
Event Performers:
Performing in Sokol Park: Dick Zavadny Band, Tyndall Accordion Club, Tabor 1890 Band with POLKA DANCE-OFF on Friday, Tabor Beseda Dancers Daily, Queen Candidates Talent, Costume Judging, and Crowning of Queen, Dances in Beseda Hall, Mark Vyhlidal Band and the Czechlanders.
Pedal Tractor Pull Saturday afternoon next to Sokol Park also SHOW AND SHINE EXHIBIT in Lincoln Park.
Kolace Baking Demonstration both days.
Craft Fair in school gym both days.
McDermott Family Shows carnival on the midway.
Mini Czech Pioneer Village and Blachnik Museum open for tours.
Polka Mass - St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church - 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 21.
Gift and Information Center open on main street.
Plenty of Czech Food and refreshments served in Beseda Hall and the Legion Hall.
