USA Special Event Description:
The Legend of Rawhide is a western pageant spectacle based on the stories handed down by early settlers that moved into the Niobrara County region. After the death of an indian princess, a wagon train of settlers find themselves at odds with the native people who demand a human sacrifice. Oh to be skinned alive at the foot of the Rawhide Buttes!
Two performances of the Legend of Rawhide will be held this year, the first on Friday, July 11, and the second on the following day of Saturday, July 12.
The Legend of Rawhide is a community performance in the truest sense of the word. Each year residents of Niobrara County and surrounding communities volunteer their time, energy, and determination in service of the Legend of Rawhide pageant.
