USA Special Event Description:
The Gaspee Days are a series of community celebrations and events honoring Rhode Island patriots who set fire to the British revenue schooner, HMS Gaspee in 1772. Events include an arts and crafts festival, contests, reenactments, and of course, the Gaspee Days parade, a three-hour tour de force parade with emphasis on colonial militias and fife and drum corps.
Event Performers:
Over 3000 participants in the parade, of all marching types and on floats.
